Lot description
Evokation (B). 1948.
Oil on canvas, doubled.
Wohlert 2116 (B). Lower right monogrammed in ligature and dated. 99 x 64 cm (38.9 x 25.1 in).
The figure constellation with the three female nudes appeared for the first time in the painting "Frauengruppe am Meer" (Wohlert 822) from 1928. In 1937 Carl Hofer used the motif once more in "Gruppe am Meer" (Wohlert 1317 (A) and (B)). This group of 3 women here titled "Evokatio" is like a happy squeal of relief in light colors. [EH].
