Animals are an integral part of Picasso's pictorial world, they epitomize virtue and vice, human weaknesses as well as the pure joy of being. The owl has ben a symbol of wisdom and protectionb since antiquity. Picasso emphasizes these attributes with the large eyes and the way the wings form a shield.
In good condition. Sheet all in all minimally discolored and with mount staining. Lower margin slightly irregularly trimmed. [EH]
