Not in Wohlert. Upper right monogrammed. 30 x 24 cm (11.8 x 9.4 in). Canvas: 36 x 29,5 cm (14,1 x 11,6 in).

• Hofer's multi-figure compositions in are particularly wonderful documents of his mastery in staging contemplation in combination with unrelatedness.
• With the oil study "Kartenspielende Mädchen" Hofer prepared the composition of the painting of the same name from 1939, which today is in possession of the Pinakothek der Moderne in Munich (Wohlert 1437)
• In 2009 a second variant of this motif from around 1944 (Wohlert 1805) changed owners in a German auction for € 238,000
