• The city of Soest and its buildings are undoubtedly of great importance to Rohlfs, and he repeatedly depicts them in his works.
• Indicated as a silhouette and framed by lush nature, he places it in the center of the depiction under the expressive yellow of the sky.
• His works are at, among others, the Museum of Modern Art and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the Städel Museum in Frankfurt am Main and the Pinakothek der Moderne in Munich.
• A selection of his works was exhibited posthumously at the first documenta in Kassel in 1955
