With the estate stamp (Lugt 1258 f) on the reverse, there incribed "No.11" by a hand other than that of the artist. On flocked paper. 44.6 x 57.3 cm (17.5 x 22.5 in), the full sheet. [CH].

• Particularly expressive and complex figure composition that borders abstraction, for which, in context of the then German avant-garde, Hölzel's creation was seminal.
• Owing to the radiance and the velvety and powdery surface, pastel chalks dominated Hölzel's creation in the 1920s.
• Other pastels from this era are at, among others, the Städel Museum, Frankfurt am Main, the Museum Moderner Kunst Stiftung Ludwig, Vienna, and the Sprengel Museum, Hanover
