CV
Kyu Sang Lee was born in 1993 in Seoul, South Korea, and grew up in Cape Town, South Africa. He received his BA in Fine Art from the Michaelis School of Fine Art, University of Cape Town (2016). Military service at the headquarters of the Army (ROKA), KR. He is currently studying at the Academy of Fine Arts Leipzig under Prof. Christin Lahr.
Artist Statement
Kyu Sang Lee's artistic practice encompasses a diverse range of media and techniques, with a focus on investigating the elusive aspects of human experience through a meticulous exploration of form, shape, sound, and visual and musical codes. Lee's photographic works, which frequently extend into multimedia installations, delve into the inherent tensions, limitations, and potentialities of multiple languages that are not primarily reliant on verbal communication, but are omnipresent in our daily lives.
