Quin, E., An historical atlas in a series of maps of the world as known at different periods ... accompanied by a narrative of the leading events exhibited in the maps: forming together a general view of universal history, from the creation to the present time. With 21 engr. col. folding maps by S. Hall. London, R. B. Seeley & W. Burnside 1836. Contemp. half calf. 4to. IV, 186 pp., 2 ll.
Phillips/ Le Gear 4139. - Cf. Tooley, Mapmakers IV, 3. - Second edition of the unusual historical atlas, first published in 1830. It covers all of the world's history, from the Flood up to the end of the peace of 1828 - divided into 21 periods of political importance, amongst it the founding of Rome, the empire of Charlemagne, the Crusades, the empire of Genghis Khan, the discovery of America and Napoleon's empire. Each chapter with a map, the first 18 maps only show sections and the rest of history literally remains in the dark clouds of ignorance. The dark parts of the maps are in aquatint etching. - Maps partly cropped close, 3 with small marginal defects, 1 partly torn, 4 rebacked in the folding. Edgeworn.
