Edwards' Natural history of birds (1743-51) in the German translation by G. L. Huth. - Almost complete 3rd and 4th part of the fine series with the splendid plates that were engraved by Seligmann. Mainly depicting birds, among them eagle owl, tomtits, swallow, cuckoo, snowy owl, Eurasian nightjar, toucan, green woodpecker, pheasant, peacock, hummingbird, flycatcher, partridge, kingfisher, bustard, flamingo, crane, egret, pelican, albatross, northern gannet, penguin, also raccoon, bison, also with a portrait of a Tatar and a map of Great Britain showing the spread of the stag beetle. - The first plate in part III lacking, plate 44 in part IV just in fragments. - Stained, text (incl. title) with various defective spots and tear-outs, folding map with defective spot and several tears, 2 plates with tears (1 rebacked). Binding damaged.
