With 1 fullpage metalcut and large metalcut printer's device on title and numerous metalcut initials. Paris, J. Bonhomme, J. Petit and Th. Kerver, 10 September 1511. Contemp. South German pigskin binding over strong wooden boards, rollstamped, center panel with blindstamped rhombi tendrils and foliage stamps (Sprandel-Krafft plates 18, no. 80), also with slanted edges and brass clasps. 4to. 8 non-numb., 321 numb. ll., 1 non-numb. l.
BM STC, French Books p. 381. - Adams J 669. - Rare and elaborately printed Paris edition with the nice printer's device of Jean Petits (Haebler VII). The remarkable metalcut shows Justinian in the synode. "It ... passed to André Bocard, who used it in editions printed for Jean Petit" (Mortimer 152, mit Abb.). - Title with 2 erased stamps (defective spots, printer's device somewhat affected), Binding slightly stained, 1 flexible clasp removed, else fine, inside clean and broad-margined copy in a magnificent late Gothic binding of the monastery St. Stephan in Würzburg (with ms. ownership entry).
Rare edition by Bonhomme, Petit & Kerver. Very fine and well-preserved printing in red and black with metalcut device, full-page metalcut illustration (see Mortimer 152) and numerous metalcut initials. Contemp. South German monastery binding over wooden boards, richly blind- and rollstamped, with brass clasps (1 movable part detached). - 2 erased stampes to title (defective pieces, affecting the device), minor staining to binding, else fine copy from the St. Stephans monastery in Würzburg.
