Sabin 13805. - Shirley 426. - Cf. Philllips 3439. - The work of the geographer Philipp Cluver was first published in Leiden in 1624. This Amsterdam edition with beautiful, finely engraved maps of: the world (1 of 2), Africa, America, Asia and Europe, among them several of Germany. - Faintlly stained and slightly browned, with isolated small marginal and corner defects, 3 maps uncomely coloured in outline, title with mended cut-out (loss of printer's device), piece of corner of front endpaper torn off, rear endpaper with entries by an old hand. Joints reinforced in places, upper spine end restored. - From the collection Chr. Hammer, Stockholm.
With 44 doublepage engr. maps (of 45, lacking a world map) and 1 folding copperplate. Contemp. vellum. - Slight staining and minor browning, here and there small marginal defects or corner losses, 3 maps coloured in outlines by an amateurish hand, cut-out to title (loss of the device), front endpaper with defective corner, rear endpaper with old inscriptions.
