Fauser I, S. XLf. - Graesse II, 392. - NDB III, 718. - Very rare first edition, not in VD 17. - Complete copy of the first representation of Hesse's history, relevant for a long time - In its first part the work contains a description of the complete state between Werra, Kinzig, Main, Rhine and Lahn, and thus goes far beyond the then area of the landgravate Hessen-Kassel. The second part covers the state's history, with portraits of Hessian rulers. The views in the first part show almost all larger and smaller towns and cities in Hesse, among them: Kassel, Alsfeld, Rsselsheim, Dornburg, Zwingenberg, Lichtenberg, Darmstadt, Langen-Schwalbach, Gruna, St. Goar, Braubach, Dietz, Nassau, Erbach, Hanau, Frankfurt a. M., Hoechst, Friedberg, Butzbach, Wetzlar, Wiesbaden, Siegen, Herborn, Berleburg, Wittgenstein, Marburg and many more. - Incoherent, partly jumping pagination. Presumably 1 leaf with portrait lacking; according to Fauser, somne copies vary in terms of the text, but also in terms of illustrations. - Somewhat browned and with traces of damp in places, title with defective corner (loss of date and indication on printer; mended in former times) as well as tear in the gutter; here and there with marginalia by an old hand. Inside joints loosened, binding rubbed, upper spine end with split.
