At the beginning the two maps of the ancient and the modern word, woodcut maps of Europe, Asia, Africa and America, Germany, France, Italy, Poland, England and other countries in Europe as well as of Suebia, Bavaria, Franconia, Pommerania, Silesia and 3 maps of the Rhine. With double-page views and plans of Jerusalem, Constantinople, Cairo, Rome, Florence, Venice, Naples, Paris, Lyon, Bordeaux, London, Basle, Geneva, Augsburg, Erfurt, Frankfurt/ Oder, Koblenz, Cologne, Lubeck, Strasbourg and Ulm etc. as well as with illustrations of sea monsters and "Meerwundern" (Miracles of the Sea). - Münster's Kosmographie , which he based on findings by renownd scholars, first published in 1544, covers mostly Germany (with further views in the text). In the descriptions of other countries outside of Europe, Münster also renders accounts of unicorns, dragons and fabled people (with illustrations); with depictions of exotic animals such as elephants, rhinos, crocodiles etc. - All in all lacking 9 text ll. (among them title l. as well as last 2 ll., with printer's device), the 2 four-page views of Heidelberg and Vienna with loss of image (mended and each in 2 parts, misbound), the 2 double-page views of Trier and Parma with loss of image (rebacked, misbound), ca. 25 ll. with marginal splits (sea moster with stronger loss of image), 1 l. with small inkstain (loss of printed matter). - AStained all the way through (stronger in places), Binding renewed. Binsding scraped and stained.
