Erste Ausgabe von Lobels Stirpium historia zugleich zweite erweiterte Ausgabe der Nova stirpium zusammen mit P. Pena. Ausgabe in der von Voet erschienenen Variante B. Mit den schönen großformatigen Pflanzenholzschnitten von A. von Leest und van Kampen, sowie aus den zuvor bei Plantin erschienenen Werken von Dodonaeus und Clusius. Penas Nova stirpium erschien zuerst 1570-71 in London, "Purfoot published the first part of the book in London 1570-71 as Stirpium Adversaria Nova . Plantin bought sets of these sheets with their inserted illustrations, gave them a new title page, added 36 leaves of new material at the end, and published the whole as Nova Stirpium Adversaria in Anvers in 1576 .. The slip pasted down on page 252 is the first published illustration of Nicotiana Tabacum , it had appeared for the first time in Purfoot's edition of 1570-71" (Hunt). - "The chief importance of this herbal lies in the system of classification which is better than that used by any contemporary botanist."
