Wak-Tae-Geli. Dacota-Krieger. Kolorierte Aquatintaradierung nach Karl Bodmer von Z. Prévost. Um 1839-1841. Auf aufgewalztem China auf Vélin. Plattenformat: 52 : 37 cm. Blattgröße: 63 : 46,5 cm.
Beeindruckendes Ganzporträt des Dakota-Häuptlings.
Tafel 8 aus dem berühmten Werk Reise in das Innere Nord-America (1839-1841) von Maximilian Prinz zu Wied-Neuwied. Zeigt den großgewachsenen Krieger mit Federkopfschmuck, Umhang und Pfeifentomahawk. Mit mehrsprachigem Titel, Verlegeradressen und Bodmers Trockenstempel im unteren weißen Rand.
- ZUSTAND: Vélin gebräunt und in den Rändern außen angestaubt, oben rechts mit kl. Einriß. Darstellung mit kleinsten Sporflecken. - PROVENIENZ: Süddeutsche Privatsammlung.

Col. aquatint etching printed on Chine collé. Plate no. 8 from the famous work "Reise in das Innere Nord-America" by Maximilian Prinz zu Wied-Neuwied (1839-1841). Shows the tall Dacota chief in a proud posture, with feather headdress, cape and pipe tomahawk. With captions in German, French and English, publishers' addresses and Bodmer's dry stamp in the lower white margin. - Vélin somewhat tanned, margins dusty and with small tear to top of right margins, illustration with tiny foxmarks. - Southern german private collection.(R)
