Dispersion

In chemistry dispersion means a mixture of at least two substances which are not water miscible or are only slightly water-miscible or bond with each other chemically. Dispersion paints are viscous paints consisting of a dispersion (usually an emulsion) of binder and solvents, colored substances (usually pigments) and other substances. This generalizing definition means that most liquid paints (lacquers, paints, etc) are dispersions.
