Futurism outside of Italy

As an avant-garde movement Futurism also had effects beyond Italian borders. A large travelling exhibition was the basis for its international reception, it began in Paris in February 1912 and had stops in London, Amsterdam, Berlin and other cities.
In Germany the exhibition took place in Herwarth Walden's gallery "Sturm" and was met with enthusiasm. As far as futurist influences are concerned, Alfred Döblin shows them in his literature and Ludwig Meidner in his paintings made after 1912. Otto Dix ("Selbstbildnis mit Mars", 1915), Heinrich Vogeler, Otto Freundlich, Johannes Molzahn and Franz Marc ("Armes Land Tirol", 1913/14) also took on impulses from Italy. Late Expressioism and the Dada movement were also impacted by ideas and forms of Futurism.
The way it was received in Germany shows that Futurism in its occurence outside of Italy was more of a mixture of Cubism and Expressionism. This trend also became obvious in other countries. Inspired by Futurism, Vorticism formed in England, Formism arose in Poland, the USA experienced the movement of Synchronism (Morgan Russel). A single artist, Prosper De Troyer, represented Futurism in Belgium for a short time. In Russia Futurism had its most enduring effect with the formation of Rayonism. On the way to Constructivism, Futurism also occupied a decisive role in the style variant of Kubo-Futurism.
