The auction of Old Masters & Art of the 19th Century also proved to be quite successful as it grossed more than € 1.2 million*. What the audience particularly esteemed was the collection of the former director of the Bavarian 'Hypotheken- und Wechselbank' Max Geiger, which comprised works new on the market, for instance by Franz von Defregger, Karl Altmann, Oswald Achenbach and Heinrich Bürkel. Once again, duck pictures by Alexander Koester were especially popular and sought-after, the picture "Erpel mit Enten und Küken am Seeufer" realized € 106,250* (starting price: € 16,000) and became the auction's top lot.
