Munich, June 10, 2020 (KK) - The interest in the high-class range of offers is enormous. The exciting question is whether the magical million euro line will be crossed again this time. German and international masterpieces of art from the 19th to the 21st century will be called up at Ketterer Kunst in Munich on July 17/18.

"We currently see a strong longing and a high demand for quality art", says Robert Ketterer, auctioneer and owner of Ketterer Kunst. "An art market that suffers from postponed fairs and called off exhibitions can do little to meet the needs. I am all the more happy that we were able to compile such a wide range of fascinating artworks to contribute our share".

Indeed, the auctions have quite a lot to offer. Gerhard Richter and Sigmar Polke alone, who are both represented with several top lots, provide an unprecedented quality campaign:

The auction is led by Gerhard Richter's promising early work "Christiane und Kerstin", which has been estimated at € 600,000-800,000. The characteristic black-and-white photo painting, made in 1986 in context of the famous work "Cathedral Square, Milan" is particularly captivating for its perfect balance between sharpness and blur as well as for its characteristic summery airiness.

A striking example of Sigmar Polke's virtuoso art is the mixed media work "Ohne Titel (Würfel)" from 1985. The object is part of the significant group of the cloth pictures, of which prime examples can be found on display at acclaimed museums in Paris and New York. The characteristic, more than 1.8 meter tall work has a consistent provenance and will enter the race with an estimate of € 500,000-700,000.

ZERO master Günther Uecker is also represented with fascinating works: While the "Feld" from 1997 unfolds an expressive power field with its dense and highly dynamic nail arrangement and a work from 1976 emanates meditative ease (each estimated at € 300,000-400,000), an untitled nail work from 1990 shows a fascinating tender-poetic side of the artist's creation. The squared work was acquired from the artist by a German collector thirty years ago and is now offered on the international auction market for the first time. The estimate is at € 400,000-600,000.

A total of five work by Ernst Ludwig Kirchner have six figure estimates, the array is led by a spectacular rediscovery "Dorfstraße mit Apfelbäumen" from 1907, an early work in best expressionistic style (estimate: € 400,000-600,000), from the renowned Hamburg collection Rauert. The provenance history of this work is just as consistent as the one of "Bergdorf mit rosa Kuh", a colorful composition from 1919/1920, which takes the observer to an idyllic landscape for an estimate of € 300,000-400,000. The same estimate has been tagged to the high-contrast oil painting "Heim-kehrender Heuer", a very special lucky find from the important collection of Gustav Ferdinand Jung.

While Cy Twombly's "Untitled (6 sheets)" from 1971 (estimate: € 300,000-400,000) is extremely rare on the art market as a matching set, Lyonel Feininger's "Manhattan, Dusk", which has an impressive exhibition and provenance history, offers a trip to a New York evening in 1945 for an estimate price of € 200,000-300,000.

Lucio Fontana's canvas piercings, the so-called Buchi (Holes), are among the most groundbreaking creations of Post War Art. The "Concetto spaziale" from 1957 offered here is part of this famous work group. The estimate for this fascinating minimalist composition in soft colors is at € 150,000-250,000.

Just as it is the case with Jean Dubuffet's "Promeneur au regard pâle", which has been part of one and the same German private collection for more than 30 years, Alexej von Jawlensky's "Abstract Head" may also be available for € 180,000-240,000. Made around 1921 at an early stage of the "Abstract Heads" series, the oil painting is particularly convincing for its international provenance as well as for its harmonious composition in terms of colors and symmetry.

Next to Rudolf Schlichter's oil painting "Abstraktion (Ohne Titel)", which is priced-in at € 200,000-300.000, other solitary works come from, among others, renowned artists like Josef Albers, Max Beckmann, Willi Baumeister, Lovis Corinth, Tony Cragg, Otto Dix, Isa Genzken, Keith Haring, Erich Heckel, Yves Klein, Max Liebermann, August Macke, Paula Modersohn-Becker, Gabriele Münter, Emil Nolde, Albert Oehlen, Anita Rée, Daniel Richter, Josef Scharl, Franz von Stuck, Andy Warhol and Tom Wesselmann.
