One of the most renowned works on botany of the 18th century! "This edition is artistically superior to Blackwell's Curious Herbal on which it is only partly based. The first 500 plates by N. F. Eisenberger, were copied from Blackwell's plates but are much more carefully drawn, engraved and colored, and have alterations and additional material." (De Belder) - Unusually complete copy, with two additional copper plates in vol. I: Plate 16 Digitalis in 2 color variants and plate 75 Dictamnus albus Fraxinella in 2 different representations. Each copper with German and Latin plant inscription on the plate, partly with English description added by hand in former times. - Slightly stained in places and browned as well as somewhat wavy; coloring partly showing through and with offsetting respectively. Binding scraped and scuffed in places, 2 vol. slightly differently bound. All in all fine and clean copy of the important herbal.
Complete copy of the first Trew-edition of the famous botanical book. 6 engr. color. titles and 617 engr. color. plates. Contemp. leather. - Partly sligthly foxed and browned. Binding rubbed and partly bumped, 2 vols. in differing binding. Overall clean and fine copy.
