• Important provenance: from the collection of Carl Hagemann, which forms the core of the Expressionism collection of the Städel Museum in Frankfurt a. Main
• The intimate motif of a sleeping woman recurs in many of his creative periods
• Heckel is one of the most important German expressionists and a founding member of the "Brücke"
