Dube L 47. Schiefler L 18. Signed and inscribed "Handdruck". Monogrammed in stone. One of presumably five to seven hand proofs. On firm light gray paper. 40,3 x 33 cm (15,8 x 12,9 in)Sheet: 48 x 40,8 cm (18,8 x 16 in).
"Usually Kirchner worked with feather, brush or [- as it is the case here -] chalk right on the stone. Just a few sheets were made on spirit duplicator copy paper. Together with Erich Heckel Kirchner developed a method to make impressions from the stobne by hand. The editions werer rarely above five to seven copies." (Translation from A. and W.-D. Dube, Erich Heckel - Das graphische Werk, New York 1965, p. 14).
Another copy is in possession of the Kunsthalle, Karlsruhe (Dube, a.a.O.). This print is offered on the international auction market for the second time only (source: Gordon's). [JS].
