Dube H 532. Verso with estate stamp of Kunstmuseum Basel (Lugt 1570b) and with hand-written registration number "H 532". Inscribed by a hand other than that of the artist recto in lower margin. One of only two known copies. On wove paper. 40 x 26.5 cm (15.7 x 10.4 in). Sheet: 51 x 35,5 cm ( 20 x 14 in).
The figure depicted is "Stehendes Mädchen" from 1914 (cf. Henze 1914/01). [JS].
Fine and strong print. This is the first time that a proof of this woodcut is offered on the international auction market (source: www.artprice.com).
We are grateful to Prof. Dr. Günther Gercken, Lütjensee, for his kind support in catalogingthis lot. The woodcut will be included in the forthcoming volume of the catalog raisonné of prints (expected to be Gercken 1516).
