Bernd Berner was a founding member of the artist group "SYN", together with Erwin Bechtold and Rolf-Gunter Dienst. Working over certain surfaces of the picture several times and by contrasting them with very flat parts, he creates spatial depth through superimposed abstract gestural forms. [FS].
