Van den Broecke 3. - Shirley 158. - Koeman 0001:31C. - Weltkarte im Oval mit vier Medaillons in den Ecken, jew. 2 mit klass. Texten von Cicero bzw. von Seneca, in den Zwischenräumen dekoratives Beschlagwerk. 1. Zustand der dritten Platte. - "The oval world map used previously has been updated in two major respects: South America now assumes the more correct shape ... and the Solomon Isles are marked for the first time."(Sh.) - Verso latein. Text. - Leicht gebräunt und stellenw. etw. fleckig. Rechte Hälfte des unteren Randes mit Ausriß bis nahezu an die Plattenkante, dieser ergänzt und wie auch die wenigen bis in die Platte reichenden Einrisse restauriert. Linke Hälfte des unteren Randes mit restaur. Einriß. Im rechten Rand eine hinterl. längl. Fehlstelle. Mittelfalte verstärkt.
Oval world map with four medaillons in the corners with classical texts from Cicero and Seneca, and strapwork. First state of third plate, Latin text on verso. - Slightly browned and partly soiled. Lower margin with larger loss in the right half (illustration not affected) and with few tears into the platemark, all rebacked and restored. Right margin with rebacked defective spot. Restored tear in left half of lower margin. Centrefold reinforced.
