The work is registered in the Hermann Gerlinger Collection as SHG 312a. [SM].
• The work shows Paul Holstein, Heckel's childhood friend and later passive member of the "Brücke".
• Very early work.
• No other copy has ever been offered on the international auction market (source: artprice.com).
PROVENANCE: Hermann Gerlinger Collection, Würzburg (acquired in 2010: Lempertz, with the collector's stamp, Lugt 6032)).
