Wolf war u. a. Sekretär und Bibliothekar im Hause Jakob Fuggers. "Wolf is an important figure in the development of Byzantine historiography ... he conceived the idea of a Corpus Byzantinae historiae" (Blackmer 748 Anm.). Er erwarb sich durch die Herausgabe des "ersten Corpus hist. Byzant ... ein unbestrittenes Verdienst" (ADB). - Leicht fleckig und wasserrandig, 4 Bll. und Vorsätze mit ergänzten Eckläsuren. Deckel mit Feuchtigkeitsspuren, Schließbänder entfernt, Rücken mit Einriß.
First edition. With 4 woodcut printer's devices by Jost Amman (rep.). Contemp. vellum. - Slightly stained and waterstained, 4 ll. and endpapers with rebacked defective corners. Cover partly stained by damp, thongs removed, spine with tear.
