"Männekens" and "Ghosties" are the scurile creatures that from time to time haunt Feininger's later works. They call slight reminiscence of these caricature-like figures in his early comic drawings. In the artist's late period of creation they lead a goblin-like life of their own, which is harmless, however, not without a good deal of wit. [KD].
