Printed by in 1923 by Fritz Gurlitt Verlag, Berlin, with the title "Sonnenaufgang in der Kleinstadt" as part of the portfolio "Arno Holz zum sechzigsten Geburtstage gewidmet von deutschen Künstlern". Based on the gouache "Sunrise" from the same year. [CH].
• The year this work was made a couple of Feininger etchings were shown in the winter exhibition of the Berlin Secession.
• Many important paintings, watercolors, drawings and prints testify to Feininger's fascination for architecture.
• From Feininger's impressive early period of creation before he taught at the Bauhaus in Weimar and Dessau and his emigration into the USA.
• Other copies of this etching are in possession of, among others, the Museum of Modern Art, New York, the Metropolitan Museum, New York, and the New York Public Library

Detailed print in very good condition. Sheet with minimal mount staining. Tiny isolated squeezemarks and tiny creases in edges. Upper margin minimally wavy. With remains of mounting tape on the reverse of both upper corners, minimally pushing through to recto.
