• Made on a trip to the south of France in 1929.
• A year later, he revisited the scene in the oil painting "Straßenbau in Arles" (Lipps-Kant 132).
• The first owner was the Ulm art collector and manufacturer Martin Bilger, who was an important patron of the artist for several years.
• Paul Kleinschmidt attained international recognition in 1931 with his participation in the exhibition 'Germain Paintings and Sculptures' at the Museum of Modern Art in New York
.
