Gerhard Hoehme
Herzfeld, 1981.
Acrylic
Starting bid: € 11,000 / $ 11,550
Herzfeld. 1981.
Acrylic on canvas with PE strings and plexiglass.
Hoehme 80-13 (there mentioned as "around 1980", as no photo of the reverse side was available when the work catalog was compiled). Verso signed, dated, titled and inscribed. 110 x 79.5 x 14 cm (43.3 x 31.2 x 5.5 in), incl. the PE strings.

• Characteristic work that expands the pictorial space into the third dimension through the use of plastic cords.
• Fine example of Hoehme's rare play with representational associations: In "Herzfeld" the pink center is associated with the heart and the cords with the main arteries of the human body. - With his string pictures, Hoehme makes an art-historically significant contribution to the "open picture".
• Hoehme is considered the main representative of German Informalism and the creator of one of the most idiosyncratic and complex works of German post-war art
.
