Mädchenkopf. um 1926.
Oil, gouache and color chalks on cardboard.
Signed in the upper left and right. 45 x 33.2 cm (17.7 x 13 in).
[KT].
• From the period of the “Cologne Progressives”, who featured in group exhibitions in, among others, Amsterdam, Paris and Chicago between 1924-1933.
• Despite the characteristic clear and reduced formal language, the soft lines lend the portrait a sensuality all of its own.
• Due to his early death in 1936 at the age of 40, Hoerle left behind only a small, but all the more high-quality oeuvre.
PROVENANCE: Galerie Michael Hasenclever, Munich.
Private collection Southern Germany.
In good condition. Isolated, barely visible, tiny superficial traces of rubbing.
The condition report was compiled in daylight and with the aid of a UV light source to the best of our knowledge and belief.
