Frühe Japankarte in schönem Altkolorit. Zeigt die Region nach dem Vorbild von Ortelius und Teixeira, mit Korea als Insel.
Mit zwei großen Beschlagwerkkartuschen und japanischem Segelschiff. - Aus J. Hondius' Ausgabe von Gerard Mercators Atlas sive cosmographicae , dessen Platten er nach dem Tod von Mercators Sohn Rumold 1606 aufgekauft hatte, "to which he added, amongst other things, this map of Japan. He faithfully followed the Ortelius/Teixeira tpye, though he added an explanation for Korea, saying it was not yet certain whether it was an island or part of the mainland." (Walter S. 188) - Umseitig mit lateinischem Text.
- ZUSTAND: Leicht gebräunt, in den Rändern vereinzelt fleckig. Im unt. Rand mit kl. hinterlegtem Randeinriß und zwei leichten Knickspuren.
