'The lightly dressed women that he paints must be able to endure the heat of the sun and mosquitoes, as well as rough and cold air in our often very early autumn days. He knows no exhaustion when working, doesn't let himself be disturbed and prefers to finish a piece in one go.' Quote from: Fritz von Ostini, The Painter Edward Cucuel, Zürich 1924, p. 28.
