• Homage to Malewitsch's legendary "Black Square"
(1915), which is of great significance for Knoebel's oeuvre
• Knoebel brushstroke alone adds "pictorial incarnate" to the black and white aluminum rods
• Works from the series of the "Cut-ups" are in, among others, high-class collections like the one of the Basel gallerist Stefan von Bartha and were shown as part of the grand Knoebel exhibition at Kunstmuseum Wolfsburg in 2014/15
