PROVENANCE: From artist's estate.

In 1963 Ziegler left England and settled in Majorca. This sheet in an expressive-realistic style clearly shows a synthesis of a swift, almost explosive line management and woebegone experience. The covetous old man makes indecent advances to a scantily-clad girl with an innocent look. The question as to who is the victim in Ziegler‘s ambivalent caricature-like depiction, remains to be answered by the observer. [DB].
