Mit einem Hinweis auf Kolumbus auf S. 15: "in questi nostri avventurati giorni il Colombo referisce haver dato principio a ritrovarci un nuovo mondo dal quale son'già più volte tornati in Ispagna con le navi cariche d'oro, et di perle et goie pretiose". - Der Herausgeber Egnazio Danti (1536-1586) war Mathematiker, Astronom und Hersteller wissenschaftlicher Instrumente, zunächst in Florenz und Bologna tätig, dann in Rom als päpstlicher Kosmograph bei Papst Gregor XIII.
EINBAND: Flexibler Pergamentband unter Verwendung alten Materials. 4to. 19,5 : 14 cm. - ILLUSTRATION: Mit Holzschnitt-Vignette auf dem Titel (Globus mit Asien und Afrika), Holzschnitt-Porträt des Kommentators und zahlreichen astronomischen und geometrischen Textholzschnitten (2 blattgroß) sowie figürlichen Holzschnitt-Initialen und Holzschnitt-Druckermarke am Ende. - KOLLATION: 6 nn. Bll., 68 S., 2 nn. Bll. (d. l. w.). - ZUSTAND: Die beiden Bll. D3 und D4 verbunden. Meist gebräunt und leicht fleckig.

First edition of this Italian translation with commentary of Sacrobosco's 'Sphere' tract, by Piervincenzo Danti de Rinaldi (d. 1512), ancestor of the famous mathematician Egnazio Danti, who edited the present work. Contains a reference to Columbus at page 15. With woodcut device on title (depicting the world with Asia and Africa), woodcut portrait of Danti di Rinaldi, numerous astronomical and geometrical woodcuts in text as well as fig. woodcut initials and woodcut printer's device at end. Flexible vellum using old material. - Leaves D3 and D4 misbound. Mostly browned and slightly stained.(R)
