Günther Förg
1952 - 2013
Ohne Titel. 1990.
Series of 6 sheet Silkscreen in colors.
Each signed, dated, and numbered. From an edition of 50 copies. On slightly brownish machine-made paper by C.M. Fabriano (Rome) (with the watermark). 66.5 x 49 cm (26.1 x 19.2 in), each size of sheet.
• Günter Förgs unites seemingly contradictory elements: the geometric rigor of the composition with the gestural spontaneity of the application of paint.
• In 2014, the Museum Brandhorst in Munich presented the first posthumous retrospective of the artist’s work; this was followed in 2018 by retrospectives at the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam and the Dallas Museum of Art, and in 2023 by a major retrospective at the Long Museum in Shanghai.
• The artist’s works are held in renowned collections worldwide, including the Hamburger Bahnhof, Berlin; the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, Madrid; the Tate Modern, London; and the Museum of Modern Art, New York.
PROVENANCE: Private collection, Berlin.
In very good condition.
