Einzige Ausgabe der seltenen und umfassenden Geographie mit Schwerpunt auf Amerika. Beschäftigt sich außerdem ausführlich mit Navigation und Astronomie.
Eines der Hauptwerke des José Vicento del Olmo (1611-1696), Geograph und Sekretär des Santo Oficio de la Inquisicion . Stützt sich hauptsächlich auf Philippus Briets Parallela geographiae veteris et novae (1648) und auf Giovanni Battista Ricciolis Geographiea et Hydrographiae reformatae (1661). - Der schöne Kupfertitel zeigt u. a vier kleine Weltteilkarten, die Holschnitte im Text meist mit Diagrammen (davon eines mit beweglichen Teilen), jedoch auch einer Weltkarte nach Magini (Shirley 510: "There is no title or lettering on the map: it is criss-crossed with rhumb lines and would appear to serve a diagrammatic purpose only.").
EINBAND: Flexibler Pergamentband der Zeit mit hs. Rückentitel. 4to. 29 : 21 cm. - ILLUSTRATION: Mit illustriertem Kupfertitel und ca 40 Textholzschnitten (davon 1 mit beweglichen Teilen). - KOLLATION: 13 nn. Bll., 590 S., 14 Bll. Index. - PROVENIENZ: Nur vereinz. leicht fleckig, die letzten ca. 10 Bll. (Index) mit gegen Ende angeränderter Fehlstelle im Rand (vereinz. mit Wortverlust). Einbd. knittrig, Rückendeckel mit großer restaurierter Fehlstelle, Schließbänder fehlen.

With illustr. engraved title and around 40 woodcuts in the text (one with movable parts, one world map). Contemp. flexible vellum with ms. title on spine. - Only occasionally slightly foxed, last leaves (index) with partly restored defects to margin (with some loss of words). Rear board with large restored section.
